Twelve ‘Muscle Cars’ sold for RM11m at auction

JOHOR BARU, March 13 — Twelve “muscle cars” were sold for RM11 million after about 200 people made bids for the vehicles at the “District 23” car exhibition and sales centre here last night.
Executive director of 23 Motors Sdn Bhd, Datuk Kaathir Mustaffa, said the lowest bid was RM290,000 for a Chevrolet Camaro. The highest was RM1.15 million for a McLaren.
“Intense competition took place among 200 bidders including from Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Penang,” he told reporters here today. “Bidding started at RM100,000 for cars worth RM500,000.”
Member of Parliament for Johor Baru Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad opened the exhibition and sales centre.
Two thousand car enthusiasts followed the bidding from 8pm to midnight. — Bernama
